Post-doctoral scholars. Positions are available for post doctoral scholars who are interested in environmental and redox applications of synthetic biology. Researchers should contact Joff by email (joff@rice.edu) and provide in the email: (i) a short description of interests, (ii) a curriculum vitae, and (iii) names for three references. All candidates will be encouraged to apply to the Rice Academy Postdoctoral Fellows Program, which provides a two year stipend and supply support.  

Graduate researchers. Positions are available for graduate students interested in synthetic biology. Students should apply through the Systems, Synthetic, and Physical Biology,  Biochemistry and Cell Biology, or Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering graduate programs. Upon admission, students rotate through different laboratories before choosing a research group. Students with questions about graduate studies should contact Joff by email (joff@rice.edu).

Undergraduate researchers. Positions are open for students with interests ranging from biomolecular engineering to fundamental biochemistry and synthetic biology. Mechanisms are available for students to receive credit through the departments of Biochemistry & Cell Biology (BIOC310; BIOC401) and Bioengineering (BIOE401). Students who are interested in independent research should contact Joff by email (joff@rice.edu).

Community college scholars. Summer positions are open for undergraduates at nearby community colleges who are interested in obtaining their first biological research experience. These positions are supported by NSF Research Experience for Undergrads (REU) in Multi-Scale Biomolecular Networks (BioNetworks). Students interested in participating in summer research should apply to this REU site through the application portal by February.
